# What does it really take to finish a security questionnaire?

Description: Fast AI answers feel like saved time. But when a few answers are wrong, your team still has to find and fix them. Here’s why accuracy matters.

Almost every security questionnaire automation tool talks about speed. Answers in seconds. 50% faster, 80% faster. Ten times faster.

We get a lot of complaints about us being slow. People are like, why does your service takes four minutes? I’m like, you would be happier with a much slower accurate answer than a fast wrong answer.

Speed is important, I think, especially in synchronous context, when you’re waiting for the answer and you’re just sitting there staring at a blank page when it’s loading. Super frustrating.

This is usually an urgent thing because it’s blocking a deal. So the salesperson is talking to our customer, who’s sitting in the security team, like, can you fill this questionnaire please? Unless you finish this up, I cannot close the deal. You’re trying to win a deal. Better get things right.

## A few wrong answers can cost you the whole review

There are these typical questions that basically get asked in any enterprise deal. Do you have SOC 2? Do you encrypt our data? Where is our data? Do you do background check on all of your employees?

So here accuracy is super important.

If we don’t have the trust, it’s going to be the same amount of work. You’re going to have to go through every single one, and it’s just a pain at that point.

Even at 95% accuracy, a tool leaves ten wrong answers in a 200-question questionnaire. The annoying bit is that you don’t know which ten they are.

Downstream, you’re going to spend so much time and effort [fixing that one thing](/blog/inaccurate-vendor-security-questionnaire-answers) versus us just nailing the answer.

Think about it. You get a questionnaire. Supposed to finish it in a day, or maybe in an afternoon. Why does Wolfia taking five minutes matter? Imagine getting speedy inaccurate answers.

## Faster than what?

You can’t just say fast. The accuracy is a lot more important than time to completion of questions.

You’re truly dependent on the subject matter experts. So every single deal gets its own Slack channel. You pull everyone in, you’re just answering questions, kind of random ad hoc. It used to be like 15 people being pinged across the board.

These are the best people that can actually do their jobs instead of being looped into all of these deals.

At [Handshake](/case-studies/handshake), getting answers right gave back more than $300,000 a year in SME time.

## What Wolfia does before returning the answers

The thing is there is a trade off. If you use AI, it can either give you fast or bad answers or slow because it needs to think. We can also force it to not think. Look at the first answer that it sees in the KB and then return back immediately.

We’ll automatically detect, here’s the question, here’s where the answer goes. And then automatically generate the answers. If there’s 10 questions, we’ll run 10 jobs in parallel. There’s 200 questions, we’re running 200 jobs in parallel.

You give Wolfia all of your previously answered questionnaires, your policies, your audit reports, everything, and then you upload the questionnaire. We look at three different sources, and then we make sure everything is grounded.

There’s so much more to answering questions, and the policies are often outdated. Which means that you’re actually going to confidently give the wrong answer to your customer, which you don’t want to do.

We use the best reasoning model for all the questions, with multiple agents verifying the answer before we say something, rather than just blurting something out. We can tell you exactly what sentence led to this answer.

They throw it into Wolfia, they’ll have one person go in and review it.

## The 10 questions that matter

“If you were to name a percentage of issues that you’re running into, of 100 questions, how many times do you run into these?”

Out of 100 questions on a questionnaire, around 90 come back good. For the other 10, she opens Glean or Claude Code and digs in herself.

Off the top of your head, you can just answer some of these. You don’t even need a tool. So if you’re asking us for help for those difficult question, that takes time.

We never say yes without actual solid proof. Instead of you talking to your head of security, you going and talking to like 6 separate people, we’ll just let the AI do most of the work.

What’s gonna happen is if you get inaccurate answers, you’re gonna go spend time fixing that. And what’s the point of the tool? Why don’t you do it manually?

At [Handshake](/case-studies/handshake), questionnaires used to take more than five days to return to customers. Now the process takes under two days, and 90% of Wolfia-generated answers need no edits.

## Would you trade accuracy for speed?

We spoke to 20 customers about what matters to them when answering security questionnaires. Not one said they’d trade accuracy for speed.

One customer trust lead who tested several tools on real questionnaires told us:

“We had tested other services that were honestly blazing fast compared to Wolfia, probably a tenth of the amount of time to actually go through a questionnaire. But the quality was just significantly different, to the point where we didn’t care so much about the time saved.”

We would rather be right and take time than be fast and wrong. Accuracy is nonnegotiable. So you’re gonna have to wait.

There is a fast mode which can give you answers in less than 10 seconds. If you want speed, just use fast mode.

You should see how many questions are we getting first time correct. What’s the intervention rate? The fill rate is helpful, but not that useful. Acceptance rate, I think, is more valuable.

My claim to customers usually is, you’ll overall spend less time as a human being reviewing the answer, because we are throwing compute at the problem. You should try it out, actually. Upload it, and then maybe test out the difference in experience.
